APPALACHIAN WOODWRIGHTS      handcrafted entry & interior doors

Started in 1998 Appalachian Woodwrights, a small family owned company, is dedicated to creating fine handcrafted entry and interior doors.  We build all our doors in a traditional method of fine cabinetmaking passed down through the centuries.  This method is called frame and panel construction.  It can only be achieved with mortises, tenons and solid panels that float in grooves. Using a variety of woods, custom iron work, art glass, and finishing techniques we create a truly unique door for your home or office. 

We work closely with our client to design an entry that will compliment the architectural style of their home.  Whether you know exactly what you want or have a rendering from your architect,  we go through a process of sketches and AutoCAD renderings until a door evolves. 

The iron work for our doors is created about five minutes from our shop by local artist Dean Curfman and his staff at Oak Hill Ironworks.  Using techniques he has studied and mastered Dean makes some of the most incredible ironwork imaginable.  If you can dream it, Dean can build it.   He is available for additional iron in your home or office to tie into your front door theme.  You can contact Oak Hill Iron Works at 828-437-5348

Aquarius Art Glass Works in Hickory, NC does all our commissioned art glass.  John Falcone has over 25 years experience in the craft of stained glass creation.  He does a wide variety of styles and works on anything from doors panes to stand alone art work.  John can be reached at 828-322-4418 - John has two studios, one located in downtown Hickory, NC and one located in the beautiful coastal town of Wilmington, NC.
