Combining her talent and experience as an architect and his years of timber framing with some of the country’s most exclusive builders, Kim and Dennis Woolard founded Appalachian Woodwrights in 1998 to provide custom wood doors for the most discerning of home owners. Their reputation with interior designers and builders for quality and design led to new projects from the Caribbean to the Northeast. Purchased by Alan Clark in 2012 with a slight name abbreviation, the word about “AppWood” spread even further via the internet and social media which led AppWood to ship doors nationwide and internationally. Though Dennis and Kim have moved on to other endeavors, AppWood is still committed to designing and building doors that reflect the character and style of its home and we work hand in hand with the owner, builder and architect to create the door that makes the best first impression for our client’s project. We also strive to produce doors with a minimum impact on our environment by purchasing FSC approved woods from local sources.

Now operating from a 40,000 sq. ft. facility designed specifically for custom woodworking and finishing, AppWood intends on continued growth, creating local jobs while supporting distinctive projects around the country. Combining old world craftsmanship with modern refinements, AppWood will continue to create doors that are sure to stand the test of time.
